Replacing a Projection TV bulb?

I have an old projection tv but the picture gets a lot of static now. I probably need to replace the bulb since it's never been changed. Where can I purchase bulbs for Sony and is it easy to self-install? Any directions or user hints to do this? Thanks for the help.

If you have a picture, your bulb isn't the problem. They will dim over time (and eventually burn out) but static is not from the bulb. You should check all your connections to make sure they are tight and the wires are still good. If that's not the problem (and you have cable or sat), call your cable/sat provider.

If you still want to change the bulb, your owners manual should show you how and you can buy them on many different sites online. You didn't give a model number so I can't point you to the right bulb.
