Replacing a house window, can it be done without going outside?

I have a house with an usptairs window in the bath that is not made to open. My wife wanst ont that will. can it be replaced without having to go outside? The roof is very steep and i would need some scafloding to get to the outside part. The houe is about 5 years old.

  1. You have to go outside to do it right.  

    You might consider having someone who knows what he's doing install a new one.

    Just a thought.


  2. No, you can not replace a window without going outside.  If you don't think you can do it, it would probably be best if you let someone qualified do it.  Replacing windows is a pain in the ***.  We have done every window in our house, including a big picture window.(8 total) Did it ourselves.

  3. Depends on how the old window`s glazed(inside or out).

    You may have to remove the glass to remove the frame from the opening.

    Then there`s the caulking of the exterior of the new unit.

    It could be done from the inside if the new window can be opened where you can reach out to do the caulking. You may install it properly then remove the sashes if possible. (just a possibility)

  4. if you want it installed so the window wont fall out  YES you need to go outside.
