I have skipping lunch sometimes when I have a fruit smoothie. I make these at home and I use lots of frozen fruit, about 1 tablespoon of honey and water. Is this unhealthy for me to do?

  1. While it's NOT exactly horrible it's not the best thing for you.. You need to be sure you are getting plenty of different vitamins and minerals.. Complex carbs and proteins.. You may want to supplement your smoothies with non-fat yogurt and vary the fruit...Make a blueberry-banana yogurt smoothie... Or a chocolate-banana smoothie- I make these for my kids and use CARNATION instant breakfast and blend with a banana...!  I use milk and they LOVE it... Experiment with different fruits... Pineapple/orange I add a banana for sweetness especially if it's really ripe!  Pineapple/mango!  I also make leftover smoothie into popsicles!  Very good on a HOT day!  You might also want to invest in  a juicer and add vegatable juice to your smoothies!  Variety is the spice of life... Eating ALL the colors of the rainbow will keep you strong and healthy!

Also, skip the extra sugar(s) like honey.   Fruits have plenty of sugar!   Use vegetable juices instead of water.  Use protein powder.... Make a SUPER-SMOOTHIE that will keep you satisfied longer and give you what you need to be your best!

  2. Yah, its a little unhealthy. You may want to just eat like a salad too, or something small.

  3. i think it is try eatin a sandwich or somethin small with ur smothie

  4. no not at all! i used to eat smoothies every day for breakfast... try putting some yogurt in them for a little more substance... activia brand is the best and really good for you!

  5. It's not unhealthy, but it has a fair amount of sugar that can leave you ravenous by dinner time. Add some yogurt or tofu (or even protein powder) and sprinkle it with granola to make it more balanced.

  6. Sure...for dinner only.Eat a balanced breakfest and lunch.

  7. I put silk style tofu in my smoothies, instead of yogurt for extra protein.

(I'm vegan now) I used to use yogurt though, very tasty!

I think that would be alright for a quick meal, not every day though.

  8. What is healthy or unhealthy will differ by opinion of course.  You can try adding in other items that will increase your nutritional value though.  Such as raw almonds, or walnuts, tofu, ground flax seed, whey protien, even baby spinach or carrots. Visiting your local healthfood store, and speaking to someone with a nutritional background will provide you assistance in how you can add items into your smoothies!☆
