Our fridge quit cooling, we came home to water all over the floor, it was the ice melting. We cleaned out the back got all the dust out of the coils etc... We were told that if we checked the relay switch and it rattled, it was probably what went bad, We removed the part and went to the part store and purchased a replacement. The replacement is in pieces (the original part came in a white box) We figured out how to put the two pieces into the fridge but are totally confused on the wiring. We have the instructions that came with the part, but they are confusing and we just can't figure it out. The man at the parts store said it is the right part, but the configuration is different. The model number on the Maytag fridge is MSD2432GR Serial number starts with 129. The compressor is number EMBRACO The part we purchased is Overload relay kit. Again we know how to put the two pieces into the compressor but the wiring isn't matching up or making sense. This is what is confusing us. The instructions say exactly this: ''White jumper wire on left terminal, (number 2 on relay) into 3/16 terminal on old harness''. What does that connect to? The guy at the parts store said the jumper wire may not be needed And the second thing that is confusing us is exactly this: ''Orange or white wire to right terminal (number 3 on relay) PTC Start device'' Can the orange wire and the jumper wire be hooked together or not?Can you help explain this for us? Thanks for your help.
