Replacing a sprinkler head but the nipple wouldn't come out....?

so i take the water head out but the nipple stayed in... its int here really good as in i already took the top half of the nipple off trying to unscrew it.... so how can i take the nipple out of the ground without damaging the thread?

  2. There's a special tool you can use to get this out.  It's a "T" shapped tool that has a special head on that that uses friction to lock onto the inside of the broken riser.  You can get them at Home Depot.

  3. I dont really understand your problem, but if your having trouble getting metal pieces to seperate, you can heat up bigger one with a torch. The heat will expand the metal and free it up where you can unscrew the smaller one..

    Note: you could carve or cut grove(s) in the plastic, which would allow you to use a screwdriver to turn it out.
