Replacing head unit..?

Hi there,

I'm wanting to replace the headunit in my car (Honda Ex Accord 86) ....the unit I'm replacing isn't the stock radio, it was installed by the previous owner and all the speakers (no amp) are already hooked up and stuff, so do I have to just pull out the headunit....remove the cables from it...and plug them into my new headunit? it sounds too simple so I'm wondering if there's a step I'm missing.....anyway, some help would be greatly appreciated. :) thanks.

  1. it realy anit that hard it more than likely anit gong to plug right in but all you have to do is mach the colors up

  2. if its the same plug on the wires, then yeah, usually.

    Buuut, Its probably not.

    Its really simple. There are three wires for power to a car stereo.

    Red = 12 volts, positive.

    Yellow = Memory wire, Needs power all the time.

    Black = Ground wire, attach to battery or something metal in the car.

    Then you have your four speaker out puts.

    Each is two wires. usually the two wires will be the same color, one with a stripe. Just connect two wires from a speaker to those wires. Just match up the one with the line, to the other one with a line.
