I have a surround sound 5.1 and all the speakers connect to the dvd player... The dvd player broke, is there any way of getting a dvd player like that one insted of having to buy a new system with speakers. I looked on ebay can't really find anything...just come across normal dvd players

  1. 5.1 surround receivers have really come down in price. You could get a decent receiver and DVD player for about $130 at BestBuy or Walmart. Or, you could duplicate your initial system for less than $100 at Target. I got my daughter a system 2 years ago for $90, only to find the same one on closeout for $60.

  2. its possible.  But I would get a separate sound system and DVD player.  That way you can run many more stuff through it.  We have the DVD, Cable, ipod, radio, and Wii all going through the surround system.

I don't think the speakers you have are very expensive and worth saving.

  3. You can buy a separate receiver and DVD player, and hook up your speakers to them. It sounds like you have a 'HTIB' system. (Home Theater In A Box). It is easy to upgrade to a better system this way.
