Just want to clean it all out get rid of the c**p and start again.

As it wont let me download Microsoft updates never had any probs with it before, it started playing up in the last couple of months have checked for viruses , disk clean up and defragged it etc but dont know what else to do, please help I'm desperate.

  1. You should be able to reinstall from your backup. Insert the first disc into the CD drive, close it and restart the computer. XP should boot up when the computer restarts. You have the activation key, so you're good to go. Do make a backup of any important files before you do this though.

  2. request a Windows xp disc from microsoft

  3. ......Try inserting the discs in your dvd drive one of them may be the winxp installation disc open this disc you may find an option to repair winxp.

To reinstal winxp using the disc you need to set your computer to boot from cd insert winxp cd and follow the instructions.

To set your computer to boot from cd power up the computer and press either the delete button or f2 button this will take you into the BIOS settings here you should be able change boot device priority.

  4. If you have a ligit microsoft licence key microsoft support will send you a new boot disk if you request it from them..

  5. You can buy a 30 day trial from microsoft, you just have to pay for shipping, or you can download a non cracked a.k.a legal copy of windows xp from a torrent and then you can uninstall windows and use your product key to install it again.

    ******IMPORTANT******

Make sure you back up all your files before re-installing windows.

  6. First switch off System Restore then your computer. On switch on before

the Acer logo shows.Press.ALT+F10 together and hold them down for

6to7 seconds. The instructions will show on how you want to restore.

Factory settings or from disc.Choose factory settings and make a recovery dics. You only need one.You may have to switch on and off to

do again until you get the connection. If your ever using a recovery disc

you can not simply put it in as it has no path and will corrupt your hard drive. How i said will put xp back. When it's done put your anti virus on and

do a virus check. Then do windows update.

  7. Your best option in this case, is to borrow a friends xp disk but register it with your own product/registry key which should have come with the computer. You can also email Acer and ask for a copy of the operating system, they really should have given you a copy when you brought your computer. If its still under warranty, send it back to where you brought it and get them to fix the problem. They will automatically format and reinstall windows for you.
