Honestly, good for Vinny!!

However, could their be any serious backlashes(if that's the word to use) or so with all these high multi-year contracts we have seen in the cap era?

Rick D

Mike Richards

Alex O

Now Vinny

What players do you think are next to get contracts like this?

Do you agree or disagree with the contracts and extensions the players are getting?

  1. Their coach still has a mullett and is outdated! You asked for my thoughts!

I think VINNY is an ICON in Tampa, and it was a good move to make sure he is their to draw in the fans!

  2. Thats good for Vinny. He must love Tampa and i think he just showed that. Nice move Tampa!

  3. good for him /he is a very good player and stays out of trouble in the off-season

  4. Eric Staal would be another one I might imagine getting a  contract like that.

  5. Vinny is Tampa Bay, and everyone knows it, that's why they sealed him up

To be honest 8.55 a year is nothing to sneeze at but some analyst are comparing it to Ovechkins saying that Vinny could have gotten so much more....so if you want to think of it another way, Vinny stayed for less because he loves Tampa and the Lightning organization

  6. 9 years is too long to sign somebody I think.  If I was a GM I'd do 4 years at the most.  However, Vincent is an exceptional talent and he deserves that money.

  7. Good for Vinny and good for the Lightning.  The salary cap has increased every season since the lock out, so if a team can lock in a price they can afford now for a franchise player like Lecavalier they're getting a good deal too.  If it fits under the cap now, it will easily fit under the cap 4 or 5 (or 9) years from now.

Next guy I hope to see get a long term deal like this... Henrik Zetterberg.  I hope the Wings can lock him into a 8+ year deal.

  8. Shoulda picked up my boy, Georges Laraque. SLAM.

  9. Makes me want to cry like when OV signed with the Caps--but I actually did cry when that happened. For weeks.

I hope Malkin gets to signing one similar with the Pens on July 1st! Hossa would be nice too......lol

And I agree with these types of contracts, I love world class players dedicating their careers to one team, for the most part, it's just nice for the franchises, I think anyway.
