Report: Teemu Selanne to play another season with Anaheim Ducks -NHL offseason Update
There is no official confirmation from the legendary Finnish Flash, nor the Anaheim Ducks that Teemu Selanne will be playing another season in the National Hockey League (NHL), but according to reports from other parts of the world, the veteran has decided
to stay for another one.
According to a report which was published in a sports magazine in Finland that goes by the name of, Veikkaaja, the Finnish Flash has made up his mind and could be making an official announcement anytime in the near future.
"Only a major injury or another setback may change his plans," the report in Veikkaaja said through a translation. "He has already skated in Anaheim, and will continue his off-season training in Finland this summer."
Other reports are actually contradicting to that of the Finnish sports magazine but also have not ruled out the possibility.
There is no doubt in the fact that Selanne, along with his enormous fan base, did not want him to leave the North American major league, but after a disappointing season with Anaheim, it seemed like it would be his last for sure.
Health issues are definitely a cause for any player to reconsider their future in the NHL, but for Selanne, he is just getting better and better each year, something that seems to force him towards playing another season.
Last season was definitely amazing as he put up 66 points (26 goals, 40 assists) in 82 games played. He was not injured or sluggish in any way and seems to be more active than ever, especially compared to people of his age (41).
Teemu Selanne will be turning 42 early next month, which will definitely be the time to make a decision. In 1,341 games played throughout his extremely colourful career, he has a Stanley Cup championship from 2007, and a total of 1,406 points (663 goals,
743 assists), certainly one of the best record ever in the world of hockey.
Fans are hoping that Teemu Selanne makes a comeback and stays with them for years to come but that decision will be made ultimately, by the Finnish Flash himself.
