Report says Texas Rangers missed chances to sign Josh Hamilton – MLB News
Recent reports show that Texas Rangers and Josh Hamilton could have talked over a mutual understanding for a potential re-signing. This was somewhat also reported earlier that Hamilton wanted to stay with the Rangers where he was performing for the last four Major League Baseball seasons.
However, both sides especially Rangers’ management did too late to convince Hamilton and his agent to talk over a re-signing option. On the other end, the five-year Major League professional Hamilton started talking with other leading MLB franchises including the Los Angeles Angels and eventually signed with them for next five years.
“I mean, I gave them everything I had for five years, So I'd be lying to you if I said it didn't bother you a little bit, that they didn't put the press on. My wife explained it very eloquently," Hamilton said recently after this report published in a renowned spots website.
Along with Hamilton, his wife Katie is also with him on this stance that Rangers certainly missed chanced to bring Hamilton back. She also recently explained in the media and said with quite detail.
"My take on it was that we were with them for five years, If you're going to date somebody and that's going to be your man or your woman, then you make it official make it known pretty quick, or at some point, that you want to be with them. They let us date other teams [at the Winter Meetings]," Katie Hamilton said and explained in the media about his husband aspirations to stay with the Rangers.
As the deal happened with Angels and Josh Hamilton, the Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels also came out in the media and showed good wishes for Hamilton on his new beginning. He also described in the media that Hamilton certainly played a vital role in the Texas Rangers’ franchise and proved his class.
Though Daniels at first place, wanted to bring back Hamilton for some more years but seeing Rangers defensive approach in this year’s Major League Baseball Winter Meetings, he remained silent and did not push hard his front office regarding Hamilton’s re-signing.
