Report shows Cleveland Indians lead in infield shifts – MLB News
A recent report by famous sports magazine has showed some interesting facts about the Cleveland Indians and its fast changing trends for betterment of the franchise and its chances to remain on top.
This report which has prepared by some deep observers of Major League Baseball revealed that how the modern trends of shifting infield, changed the game itself.
The Tribe, whose history as baseball franchise from Ohio has covered some eight decades of play, is the leading team in the Major League who is bringing change on every position on which previously not many teams have worked.
Later, when this report came out in the media, the Indians manager Manny Acta stated in the media with quite confidently as this is right as the Tribe’s management has been doing the important work shuffling the players from one position to another for many years now. He explained in detail and gave examples for the Indians’ fans for better understanding.
Acta said, “It’s just like the cell phone, There are better cell phones now, so more people have them. There’s better data than there used to be, so more teams use it. A lot of companies have a lot of experience doing this now, and just about everybody in the league is using it now."
He added, “We’re just playing the percentages, If somebody hits 80 percent of his ground balls to one side, you have to go with that. It makes things tougher on hitters. I don’t know why they didn’t do that before, But that has changed dramatically.”
From over the past many years, the Indians have improved a lot regarding everything which is directly related to their infield shifts.
Though among the Indians, some other franchises are also in the leading in infield shifts including the New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, Kansas City Royals and Milwaukee Brewers, but still the Tribe’ management is in more notice.
In the meanwhile, these drastic infield shift changes do result in the favour of these teams who support it and objectively prepare an appropriate setting for brining in the desired changes.
