Question:

Reporting a rape?

I was with my ex boyfriend for nearly 4 months, and during that time he raped me repeatedly, as well as abusing me etc. I want to report him to make sure the same thing doesn't happen to anybody else, but it happened a few months ago and I've only just been able to open up about it. Does this mean that there's no point in reporting it, as there would be no evidence?

  1. Well you can report it if you want, but doing that is no good seeing as though you have now waited 4 months. It's great that you have managed to open up about it. It takes sometime. But anyways reporting it now like i was saying is no good because you have no proof the rape. But you should concern family&friends of this matter.

~Also alot of people are saying that it takes "time" to report it. I don't think so, because if this really was rape then you would have told someone sooner. It in his mind was probably s*x. So this just a opinion but,you should report it. But it wont have as much as effect as it would have if you reported it right away.

    Does that make sence?

  2. yes

  3. hmmm, the fact that you want to report it now after he's your EX is a bit shady, if it really was rape, why didn't you report it back then?

  4. theres still a point in reporting it. your lack of "hard" evidence makes it a little harder for you but ive heard of cold cases where people can construct a case around other evidence and such but good luck

  5. You were only together for 4 months and he was already that abusive?  Usually abuse doesn't even begin until several months into the relationship.  Be thankful you're out of it now.  Regardless, you can and should still report this crime.  Many rape victims don't confess right away and he could still end up being prosecuted especially if you have witnesses who will testify that they have seen bruises etc on your body from abuse.

  6. it could do cos u left it 4 a while  this is very serious i suggest u do tell the police giv as much as detail about him  and if they ask y u hav left it this long say u were scared but u realised it might happen to other people and im worried

  7. Forcible rape is a banal savage crime that demands, in my view, the death penalty instead of our Justice system's current punishments set for s*x offenders.

Rapes should be reported ASAP after the crime has been committed.  Victims should NOT bathe, shower, douche, launder clothes worn during the crime and wipe down / clean any surfaces where the crime occurred.

Contact Police--they'll send investigators to interview you, take you to a hospital for examination and evidence gathering and they will also inspect the crime scene for gathering further evidence.  With the breakthroughs in DNA forensic evidence---it's now possible to actually link a slug to the crime of rape.

It's also advised the victim seek professional rape counseling ASAP as well.....to begin their road to recovery--however long that recovery process takes them.

Reporting rapes months after the crime is NOT advisable; it comes to a matter of the victim's word against the accused rapist's.  Police and even rape victim advocates become skeptical when hearing accusations made in such cases.

It's heartfelt sincere advice given you here to leave this ex alone and stay very clear away from him.  Focus totally on YOUR recovery and seek professional rape victim counseling.

  8. NO WAY ! Definetly report him. Its never 2 late to report someone espcecially if they did something against the law, make sure u report him cuz he could do it to someone else too ! Good luck !

  9. No matter how long ago you need to report it. It wasn't right and still isn't. You never know how many people he's done this too and it might help them come out and say something as well.

  10. You can report it and you should just for record, however I doubt any charges would be filed against him. Lack of evidence unless you somehow recorded or film the acts.  Never stay with someone who physically harms you...the first time is the LAST time!

  11. ABSOLUTELY NOT.......SOME WOMEN WAIT MONTHS BEFORE THEY ARE ABLE TO OPEN UP ABOUT IT.....YOU NEED TO REPORT THIS.......AND GOOD LUCK TO YOU HUNNY

  12. report it, children who were molested have  convicted the offenders years after the fact.

You may be surprised to find ou that someone else has been abused by this same person.

  13. report it. most of this kind of thing is only reported months or even years later

  14. I'm sorry but i have to ask why did you not report him after the first rape, coz you was scared of him, why what was he going to do rape and abuse you ?? that's what he did anyway.

yes you should report him if only to help someone who is not stupid and reports him the first time he does it.

if you stayed with him then a lawyer could argue that you where consenting to the way he treated you

  15. no. you still should at least try to file a citizens report. even if they cant convict him, they still will have some info against him if he tries to do it again. even if they cant prove he did anything to you, you cant still help any other victims. a similar situation happened to my friend. i am so sorry for what you went through.

    jessica m is retarded!!!

    im so sorry.

  16. the longer you wait to report the less evidendce there will be. you should have reported it when i was barley happening. he could been most likely found guilty

  17. There is most definitely a point to reporting it.  Physical evidence is only one part of the reporting a rape.  There is usually a statute of limitations for the police to charge someone with a rape, but if this was just a few months ago you should be well within the time frame.

Make sure you take someone with you for support and good luck!

  18. talk to someone who can help you

    family member best friends etc.

  19. it looks suspicious why would you let him rape you for 4 month, I don't think you have a leg to stand on especially since YOU continued to go back and see him  and the fact that their is no physical evidence does not help either.

  20. you can still report it.

a lot of women are too afraid to report rapes right after they happen. so dont worry about time.
