Question:

Reporting to Fort Hood Tomorrow - Don't Know Where to Go.?

I'm an 11B infantryman who just finished OSUT last week. I'm reporting to Fort Hood tomorrow, but all I have is a ticket to Kileen airport. Once I arrive at the Kileen airport I don't have any further instructions beyond that. Can someone tell me where I'm supposed to go or what I'm supposed to do? Is there somebody that I should meet up with at the airport? Do I report somewhere in the airport? Or when I arrive at the Kileen airport am I completely on my own?

Thanks for your time, I could really use some help on this one.

  1. There's a desk at the airport, near baggage claim.  There will be a SGT there. Talk to him.  Just as a heads up, replacement detachment at Hood SUCKS, but it only lasts a week.

  2. Not entirely sure about Fort Hood but I would bet that they have a military liaison at Kileen Airport who will have the answers to all of these questions.  If not, then get a cab or a shuttle to take you to the front gate (the fare will be reimbursable when you submit your travel claim).

Fort Hood is a pretty big operation.  Willing to bet USO or a military liaison is present and will have all of the information you need.

    Good luck and stay safe!

  3. If you fly in to the Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport, ground transportation is available to Fort Hood. If you need help at the airport, contact the Liaison NCO located near the baggage claim area. Once at Ft. Hood report to Copeland Soldier Service Center, Bldg. 18010 at the intersection of T.J. Mills Blvd. (primary road from the Main Gate) and Battalion Ave. The Copeland Center is open 24 hours daily.

Should you encounter any difficulties, or have any questions upon your arrival, contact the Soldier Welcome & Care Center by calling (254) 287-7486. This office is open 24 hours daily.

  4. they should have someone there ready to transport you, and they will take you the inproccessing building, right at the front gate. you will be alright, the killeen airport is right next to the base. just to warn you fort hood is the worst place in the world, the worst base in the world. i had the worst 2 years of my life there. killeen blows, man good luck, try to stay positve. you will see how bad it is, not to scare you but man does it suck.
