Reports: Baltimore Ravens LB Terrell Suggs surrendered legal fire arms on court order – NFL News
The Baltimore Ravens and linebacker Terrell Suggs have refused to comment on a local newspaper report that disclosed the player had been required by a court of law to surrender his firearms to police in a ruling related to a domestic case involving his girlfriend.
Some sections of media have cited a report in the Baltimore Sun who apparently approached the team and the player himself seeking clarification of the development of the case but both parties declined to say anything on it.
According to a report, Suggs attorney Warren Alperstein told the Sun that the player was in legal possession of the arms and was asked by the court to surrender arms after a filing by his girlfriend.
The Attorney was quoted by the newspaper as saying:
"The guns were surrendered over to police pursuant to the court order, and they (Suggs and Williams) are resolving their issues. All I can tell you is that he's in rightful and lawful possession of the guns but turned them over pursuant to the requirements
of the law."
Suggs is out of the team at present nursing a torn biceps injury. His return to action this Sunday is still doubtful, as the team has left him a game-time decision. This is for the first time that information has emerged around a difficulty between him and
his long-time girl friend.
Apparently, the player has been taking the issue without an impact on his game. He had staged a comeback after recovering from a partially torn Achilles tendon earlier in October. He had suffered that injury in controversial circumstances in the offseason.
Meanwhile, the player’s attorney has not thrown a light on the case itself, whether both parties are still engaged in it. The lawyer has cited some court documents indicating the player had filed a custody complaint against his girlfriend Candace Williams.
According to the lawyer, Candace filed her complaint after that.
There are no further details on the case. Suggs is expected to be back in the side pretty soon and remains to be a crucial part of the squad along with linebacker Ray Lewis.
