Reports: Indianapolis Colts is history for Peyton Manning, decision made two weeks ago – NFL News
A decision on the prospects of quarterback, Peyton Manning, returning to the Indianapolis Colts next season has been taken by the team management a couple of weeks ago and it is that they will move on beyond Manning era for sure.
It has emerged in a number of reports, which have relied on the information from their sources closer to those who mattered in the decision-making at Colts, disclosing that it is definite for the team now to be over with the QB.
They are looking forward to their new draft rookie, to be signed by Colts off draft season, which begins in April this year, as future QB, training and grooming him the way they had done to Manning more than a decade ago.
Manning is unlikely to be paid the $28 million bonus and as a result of the decision he is mostly likely to be free agency after expiring of the bonus deadline March 08, 2012. If so, a couple of teams have already hinted pursuing him as their prospective
signee if he becomes available.
Apparently, Colts owner, Jim Irsay, has reacted strongly to these reports saying no decision had been made on the issue of Manning and he was still very much with the Indianapolis Colts.
He was responding to the reports of decision having been reached. He apparently did not deny if he had discussed the matter with his new general manager, Ryan Grigson and coach, Chuck Pagano.
According to reports it is more sort of an understanding between the owner and team officials that they will start thinking beyond Manning in their drive of rebuilding the team, which was started with robust firing of all team managers and coaches.
The latest news about Manning’s future at Colts comes after a week of tough talking by both sides. Peyton Manning, apparently frustrated by the silence of the team management over his future and firing of all his bosses in one go, referred the environment
at Colts to be unhealthy.
Irsay reacted strongly to his situation and called him a ‘politician’ and advising him at the same time to prefer discussion of the issues within the family.
Both sides later attempted to calm down the situation with issuance a joint statement to dispel the impression of strife in their relationship.
The latest reports claiming that Manning’s days were over at Colts are not going serve well into their efforts of improving the situation. It is high time for the owner to come out with his choice about the player. The situation is going to worsen for sure,
otherwise.
With Irsay saying nothing in confirmation or denial of these developments, Peyton Manning has the opportunity to win all the backing and favours from football circles. Almost all his former bosses are with him on the issue.
