Reports emerge to term Players, League as Far Apart -NHL Lockout Update
While the continuous meetings between the National Hockey League (NHL) and Players’ Association has given hope to a regular season starting as soon as December, new insider reports are terming there to be still a lot of ground to be covered by the negotiators
along with them being far apart on many key issues.
There is no surprise in that fact since the league and labour union have not any major announcements to as what has been gained during these last few meetings which have lasted more than five hours each, but fans are still crossing their fingers to hear
some good news later on this week.
“We’ll see. We’ve see a lot of b.s. in this process so far. If the owners do take responsibility, then there’s movement. But the way this thing has gone so far, we (the players) wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t,” a source close to thestar.com revealed.
Others, have termed these past few days as being extremely crucial as both sides have now proved a point, either by sending players of to continue playing in Europe and not be phased by the lockout at all, while the NHL has cancelled the preseason, a huge
part of the regular season and recently, the highly looked forward to Winter Classic.
Players are still waiting to here on something concrete instead of it being more based on rumours and reports. For someone like Sidney Crosby, captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins, until there is not any formal announcement, the days go by just like the rest
have.
“I'm more confident (now) because there is dialogue and that's good,” Crosby told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “Nothing, I don't think, got settled (over the weekend) as far as a clear-cut issue. They've talked about it, agreed to a meeting this week and
that's good. You kind of don't want to read into anything.”
Updates on this critical issue should be expected in the next 24-48 hours as both sides continue to meet and negotiators deal with getting through the core economic issues before all hope pertaining to a regular season is lost.
