Reports link Baltimore Ravens LB Ray Lewis to surprise return next month – NFL News
A number of reports have linked Baltimore Ravens’ veteran linebacker Ray Lewis to a surprise return to action sometime next month from a triceps injury that the player suffered last month.
Some media sections have cited anonymous sources privy to Lewis’ recovery progress expressing a great optimism about the ahead-of-schedule rehab pace of the player and projecting his comeback next month.
Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo has been noted telling Yahoo! Sports:
"For the greatest player in Ravens history to be able to return from this injury and come on this championship run with us? When he was said to be down and out? Man, that's critical mass. When he comes through that tunnel, that's gonna be the earthquake
and the tsunami."
He added:
“Lewis was in San Diego on Sunday to watch his team rally for a 16-13 overtime victory and gave his teammates a pregame speech. He wouldn't confirm that he plans to return this season. You've got eyes -- what do you expect to happen? I'm here to support
my team."
After Terrell Suggs it will be another surprise move by a defensive player from the Ravens. The LB returned to action last month after recovering from a torn Achilles tendon at a pace faster than anticipated. He is a part of Ravens’ defence now.
Lewis has spent a couple of months on the sidelines with the triceps injury and his team continues suffering on the defensive line. He is a key player along with Suggs on the defensive line, and has remained a part of the team to all four years when they
were through to playoffs.
If his comeback happens by middle of the next month he can get an opportunity of playing a couple of games in the regular season before moving on to the playoffs. The Ravens are atop the American Football Conference (AFC) North division and in commanding
position. Therefore making the playoffs for fifth consecutive time is not a problem for them now.
They are well ahead of their competitors the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals who are tied behind at 6-5 position, quite far from the Ravens’ 9-2 standing.
