Reports link Mike Holmgren to coaching job prospects at Dallas Cowboys – NFL News
Cleveland Browns’ outgoing president Mike Holmgren has been linked to coaching prospects at the Dallas Cowboys in a number of media reports after the end of his tenure at the Browns.
Mike’s time as a president, which had marked a number of controversies, ended with the Browns’ win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, and now the official is reportedly heading back to his previous role as coach that marks a remarkable success for him.
Joe Banner, who has just arrived in Cleveland, is going to take over as president from Holmgren, and he confirmed that they were not extending the official’s contract, which has just expired.
Although Holmgren has finished the Browns job on winning note, he faced a lot of criticism during his stay with the Browns. For example, he tried too many quarterbacks without much success. Earlier, he had also been accused of loathness and working very
tight schedules in the office.
To answer it, he became more involved in the team’s affairs this year and had an added number of interactions with the media, but when the team was sold to the new owner Jimmy Haslam, an end to his period was imminent.
He was under review of the new owner who from very beginning did not see himself fitting in the Browns’ current setup and besides president is seeking change at some other position. The next most vulnerable position is the head coach, and he too might be
saying goodbye very soon.
A number of reports earlier linked Holmgren to an interest for coaching job at the Cowboys, which he denied. But then he was still awaiting a word from the Browns if they were interested to seek his services for a longer period and then a confirmation from
him was not expected.
Holmgren has so far not spoken to the latest reports that he is likely to be heading to Dallas to coach the Cowboys, but the situation is expected to become clear by Tuesday. The official might speak to media on Monday or Tuesday, highlighting some of aspects
of his future plans, besides throwing a light on his Browns’ career.
