Reports link wide receiver Jacoby Jones’ visit to Baltimore Ravens to potential signing-NFL News
A few days after Baltimore Ravens’ director of player personnel, Eric DeCosta, said that the management was happy with the number of receivers it had on the roster, it has been reported that the team is weighing the possibility of signing free agent wide
receiver, Jacoby Jones.
Jones was released by his former employers, Houston Texans, last week, and since, then he has visited a number of teams.
The player, in the next leg of his visits met with Ravens’ managers to discuss the possibility of moving to Baltimore.
However, neither the player’s agent nor any official of the team have officially confirmed the player’s visit.
A section of the media quoted anonymous sources claiming the player was in Baltimore with a possibility of a workout for the team. Some commentators also see a deal on the cards.
Ravens have brought on board former Indianapolis Colts’ head coach, Jim Caldwell, as quarterbacks' coach and having the offensive department up to its full strength would definitely benefit the team.
Before arriving in Baltimore, Jones visited the Carolina Panthers but no information has come out of the headquarters if the team is interested in giving him a deal.
Jones spent five years of his career with Texans.
Last year, he played 16 games in the regular season, starting 10, and gained 512 receiving yards on 31 passes while scoring two touchdowns.
Following the return of their quarterback, Matt Schaub, from a foot injury, Texans have introduced some changes in their offence.
They waived off QB, Matt Leinart, before releasing Jones.
Jones had worked with rookie QB, T.J. Yates, and was at the forefront of the team’s past season run, given that Andre Johnson had missed quite a few games due to a hamstring problem.
Meanwhile, Ravens’ extra attention on their offensive department makes Jones a good fit. The next couple of days are going to clear the situation around the possibility of him getting a deal from Ravens.
The prospects of the player joining Panthers are also expected to be clarified by then.
