Recent reports reveal that Michael Emenalo is close to being named the Chelsea sporting director. The 45-year-old Nigerian will be replacing Frank Arnesen, who left for a similar post at Bundesliga side Hamburg.
Emenalo will be moving up from his post of assistant first-team coach, a position he occupied after the sudden departure of Ray Wilkins in the middle of the 2010-2011 season. Prior to his appointment as the assistant first-team coach under Carlo Ancelotti,
Emenalo served as the chief scout.
Having had a vast experience as a footballer in various countries, Emenalo was perfect as the chief scout at the London club. However, after the untimely departure of Wilkins, Emenalo was considered the best possible candidate to replace him.
The newly appointed Chelsea manager, Andre Villas-Boas, who replaces Carlo Ancelotti as the manager at the London club is reportedly supportive of Emenalo’s appointment as the sporting director, having brought with him his own management team.

“The main thing is to build on the future and put competent people in the right places.”
Emenalo arrived at Chelsea in 2007, under the charge of Avram Grant and began his work as the head opposition scout. He began his footballing career in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034 in 1986 and going on to play in a host of different clubs.
He has featured for clubs in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigeria-c2970, even playing in the 1994 FIFA World Cup.
Among his various duties as the sporting director at Chelsea, Emenalo will have keep an eye on transfers and ensure the smooth running of the academy. With his appointment expected to be announced soon, the Blues can expect new signings.
Even though the London side have been linked with a host of players over the summer, they have yet to make a signing.
