Reports suggest New York Jets' Jim Leonhard maybe out for season – NFL News
The New York Jets may have soared to a 37-10 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday night but could now be forced to pay a heavy price for their win.
The game had the Jets Coach Rex Ryan pleased with his team’s excellent performance calling it the team’s best so far this season. However with safety Jim Leonhard falling to a knee injury early in the game against the Chiefs on
Sunday may have made Ryan look a bit nervous. The report out is that Leonhard who injured his right leg may have his season ended.
The New York Daily News quoting sources reported that the injury will see Leonhard out for the rest of the season. This seems to be a very big price that the Jets may have to pay for their victory. Ryan is now scheduled to have
an MRI exam on his right leg on Monday. Only after the exam has been conducted can the nature of the injury be determined.
Leonhard had sustained the injury following an interception that he made after which he was tackled by Chiefs receiver Steve Breaston. The incident happened in the second quarter of the game after which he had to be sidelined and
taken into the locker room. This incident surely had Ryan worried. Safety Brodney Pool was called in to take place of the injured Leonhard.
Ryan talking to reporters after the game said that he was hopeful but had not received any news from the doctors.
"I'm hopeful it's not that bad," Ryan said, "but it's never good when you're carted off."
Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis had something to say on the injury, "I heard from the sideline that he may be out for the season. You gotta enjoy, but we also know how big Jim is to our defence. It's a big loss for us, but we have
to move forward like we did last year.''
Revis further said that it was like a repeat of the last season. A year back, Leonhard had to miss the remainder of the season after he sustained a leg injury in December. The injury had his right leg broken and happened as a result
of colliding with his own teammate while practicing.
