I posted this a few hours ago but decided to repost to get more answers:

So, I am currently 22dpo (or CD 37) and AF is completely non-existent with no signs that she plans on stopping by to visit this month. I've been getting nothing but BFNs! I went in for a blood test today (won't get results until tomorrow) and of course doc did a urine test that came back negative. So, she proceeds to tell me that she's nearly 100% certain that the blood test will also be negative and that I've made everything up in my head and that's why AF is a no show. She then Rx me Provera to make my period come on AND THEN STARTED TELLING ME THAT I SHOULD GO SEE HER FRIENDS AT THE FERTILITY CLINIC AND MAYBE THEY COULD FIND WHATS WRONG WITH ME....ALL OF THIS BEFORE MY BLOOD TEST RESULTS ARE KNOWN!!!!

I'm sure its obvious that I'm upset and needless to say I will not be returning to that doc (who has been my doc for 4 years!) Believe me, I know that the chances of getting a positive test this late in the game after I've gotten so many BFNs is slim, but the fact is that there is a possibility and I am not even a full week late yet and she's trying to get me to take progesterone to make AF come and is convinced that I'm infertile!!!! ARRRRRRGG!

I'm not asking if you all think I'm pregnant, but I am asking you how do you feel about my experience with my FORMER obgyn?

Additional information: I've been ttc for 8 months, this cycle was the first time I used an opk. I'm a healthy 26 yo married woman and have never missed a period in 16 years and I've never been late (other than when coming off of bc in January)

  1. I have to agree. I would wait for my blood test results before I took the provera. And I would kick that doctor to the curb. You can't believe everything that a doctor tells you sometimes you gotta get a second opinion. I know my parents wish they had got a second opinion quite a few months ago, when my father was getting unexplained rashes on his chest and abdomen that his doc swore up and down were ring worms from pet hair and dander (yet no one in the house had managed to catch this highly contagious rash / supposed "ring worms" from him, subsequent month to two later he got a stomach virus that he couldn't shake it lasted 2+ weeks, turns out my father has stage 4 cancer of liver and colon : (

So wait for that blood work and get that second opinion. It is well worth it. No QUACK is worth your life or a potential life in your belly.

  2. Don't take the Provera until after you get the blood test back tomorrow. If it was drawn after 14dpo it will be conclusive.

And don't go back to that doctor.  In a recent survey, most doctors themselves said that if their doctor was not taking them seriously and not listening to their concerns, they would change. Do what THEY would do :)
