I have twin boys, they turned 2 years old in February. I went back to work in January, so they have been on the same schedule for 6 months now and it seems to have gotten harder rather than easier. One more than the other (Sammy) is exceptionally hard to get ready for day care. He struggles and wiggles and screams when I try to get him dressed and keeps pulling his socks and shoes off. I always have a cup of milk ready for them when they get up and he never wants the cup I give him. Even if I let him choose the cup, he then wants the one I give to his brother. His brother (Stanley) pulls this stuff every now and then, but Sammy does it every single morning. It's really beginning to wear on me. I've tried to let him pick out his out fit the night before to make getting dressed funner, or I'll try to get them to sing songs with me while I dress them, I've tried dressing them as soon as they wake up or after they've been running around a bit (right away is easier!)....

  1. Some people are just naturally grumpy in the morning - it sounds like you have one of those. I would let him sleep til time to go - take him there in his pj's. Just pick him up and put him in the car. He will most likely be grouchy - so just expect it and go anyway.

  2. Just take them in their pj's and take their clothes to daycare. I run a daycare, and have two kids that come to me with the same problem. For their mother, they wake up grouchy, and screaming and refuse to get dressed. When they get to my house, I simply put their clothes on so that we can start our day. it saves their mom so much hassle and stress in the morning. you should ask your caregiver if that would be ok with her. if they fuss over the milk, TAKE IT AWAY!! if they throw it, or dont want it, put it in the fridge and just dont give it back. they will be thirsty, but they will live. they will learn that they dont get what they want when the throw fits. dont every tolerate a fit or give in to it. Once you do, it is harder and harder to get them to stop.

  3. Sammy may not be a "morning person" or he may require more sleep.  Just because they are twins doesn't mean they are the same person.  They are individuals with individual personallities.  It would help if you realized that.  Sammy just may need more sleep or he may not be a morning person or he may not want to go period.
