The Test and One Day captain of Australia, Michael Clarke, has reiterated that playing for Australia is his first priority and that he will never compromise himself physically by playing intense cricket in lucrative domestic Twenty20 leagues, like the Indian
Premier League.
"Representing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 always comes first for me,” insisted Clarke while speaking to the media reporters on Saturday. “I wouldn't do anything that would physically jeopardise that and I've made that very clear," he added further.
After resisting the money spinning league for four seasons, the 30-year-old Australian cricketer finally signed a deal with the Sahara based IPL franchise, Pune Warriors for the upcoming fifth edition of the Twenty20 tournament. The Australian skipper has
reportedly agreed to a deal of US dollar one million to play in only six games this season.
Clarke will be quite relaxed this Australian winter and said that this is the ideal time for him to play in any such league as it would not encumber his national duties.
"I'll be having a good break this winter,” said Clarke who has last week joined the Australian team in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 after recovering from a hamstring injury. “If there was ever a time for me to have a go at playing in the IPL, it's now," the Aussie skipper
added.
The mighty Aussies are currently in West Indies, playing a complete series against the resurgent Caribbean side. Clarke missed the One-Day leg of the West Indies tour due to a hamstring injury, however, he will be leading the side in the three-Test series
starting on April 7 in Bridgetown. The Caribbean itinerary will be followed by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 tour in June and July this year, but between the two series, Clarke is scheduled to have an eight-week break. During these eight weeks, he will play in the IPL-5.
