Question:

Repressed Memories?

I have had vivid nightmares of being raped for as long as I can remember. Sometimes I`ll go a few months without anything and then I`ll have periods of nightmares every single night for a year or more. Sometimes I wake up with bruises on my legs from clamping them together so hard to protect my dream self. I cannot remember a time that I knew what s*x was without also knowing that it was possible to be forced, even before I learned the word "rape." The first nightmare I can remember clearly was when I was 9, so it is going on 10 years that I have had this. I am terrified whenever I spend the night at a friends house and their father or brother or any male is nearby.

Why do I have these nightmares? How do I make them stop? Is it possible that something happened to me and I don`t remember it?

  1. I think it's very possible that something happened to you...the question i answered right b4 this one was a from a virgin that was having dreams about s*x...you answered it too and said you were a virgin also...so maybe you could go to a dr. and he/she will be able to tell if your hymen is still in tact...or, the first time you do have s*x,  there should (but not always) be a small amount of blood...if there's not well......you know.....maybe you should talk to a professional though because this type of thing may interfere with your relationships now and in the future.  Good Luck honey....and here's a pat on the back for being a virgin still at your age...wait for marriage...you WON"T regret it...wish I would've!!

  2. Whether or not anything happened to you, your dreams indicates some major conflicts in your life.  I would suggest you contact a profession counselor to talk with them about these dreams.  It is likely not only the dream that are bothering.  I would imagine these feelings are effecting all  your relationships particularly those with men.

It is possible that something happened and you don't remember it but there are other explanations also.  However, no matter what is true you will need help to rid yourself of these paranoid feelings (that could be justified due to past experience) and these dreams.

Let me know if t his helped.

  3. From what your saying, it's possible that something did happen to you...see fear comes from experience, whereas phobias don't, that's why they are illogical....i think it would be best if you get professional help. I'm afraid if you don't, u will encounter some intimacy problems in the future...

    Good luck

  4. There must be some suppressed memories as you said.  Whether you were molested or something else, it must have traumatized you. You're right accidental tearing of the hymen can happened with horse riding or gymnastic or even riding a bicycle. The only way that nightmare will stop is by facing or finding what really happened. You would need to see a psychologist or some sort of counselor to help you. There might be some incident, or in my own opinion, it could be from a past life (for those who believe in it). Try to see a specialist, but one thing is to just not think what they say are the only truth or fact - it has been a long time and some times, the mind will be easily susceptible to suggestion. In the mean time, start writing a journal of your dreams and what ever you can remember since you were a child - whether it might be an even or a feeling.

  5. This is a very odd dream you've been having. You might want to see a psychiatrist to find out why you're having it.

    Good luck!
