Reproducing such a performance against Delhi Daredevils will be challenging, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stephen-Paul-Fleming-c91190 – Cricket News Update
Stephen Fleming, the coach of Chennai Super Kings, is ecstatic after an emphatic victory against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils
on Friday.
Chennai are the defending champions of the league as they won the previous two editions of the tournament. However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and company have been a bit off-colour this season. The Super Kings had to rely on other teams to make it to the last
four of the event.
However, the franchise played some extra-ordinary cricket in the first eliminator of the play-off stage and thrashed Mumbai Indians, the favourities, by 38 runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453 won the toss and asked Chennai to bat first on a pitch which was offering some movement with the new ball. Dhoni’s men were in trouble at the start of the match as they had lost two of the premier batsmen for just one run on the board before
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MEK-Hussey-c1942 resurrected the innings for the defending champions.
Icing on the cake was put by the skipper himself, who played an astonishing knock and scored 51 runs off just 20 balls. He was efficiently supported by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJ-Bravo-c1379, who also scored at a strike-rate of more than 200 runs per 100 balls.
"They consolidated the innings after we had lost two early wickets in two overs. Then Dhoni's blitzkrieg propelled us to get 75 runs in last five overs otherwise we would have ended up with 160-odd runs, which Mumbai Indians would have chased easily," Fleming
expressed.
Chennai seems to be peaking at the right time but Fleming knows that the next eliminator against Delhi is an uphill task as the players will have to reproduce their best without much of a break.
"We hadn't played as good as we could have. A bit of composure at the start of the innings and flair towards the end encouraged us going into the next qualifying match against Delhi Daredevils at home. Repeating same performance is not all that easy. We
will work hard on that in next 24 hours,” he added.
