Repsol Honda duo Casey Stoner, Andrea Dovizioso to battle for victory at Catalunya – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda duo Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso are ready to fight for another win at the Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya set to take place on Sunday, June 5, 2011.
Casey Stoner will start his fourth consecutive race from the front row at the Spanish venue. The Australian has dominated the season in practice sessions and race days. In Jerez, he retired after a fall on wet track conditions and in Portugal, he was not
confident of his bike grip as he faced two low sides in the first lap. Despite all the incidents, he still has two victories to his name in the 2011 season after four events.
Repsol Honda rider, Casey Stoner is sure about his pace during the race and feels good about winning. Stoner said, “I'm disappointed with qualifying, we had good pace and should have been able to go a lot faster on new tyres. In my first run of the session
the bike wasn't working so well, the tyres weren't warming up as expected with that set up and I had a lot less grip on the soft tyre, which we couldn't understand why.”
The Australian rider expects the weather to be dry and said they will be using hard tyres to keep the pace as fast as possible.
The Italian Repsol Honda rider, Andrea Dovizioso also improved his lap time from the third free practice session and was placed in second row after a short gap of 0.021 seconds from Jorge Lorenzo. The Italian rider struggled for a pole seat but following
a mistake in the second section of the Montmelo circuit, he was dropped down to fifth place for the starting grid.
Repsol Honda rider, Andrea Dovizioso said, “Montmelo is a special track, you slide a lot and it’s good fun to ride with a MotoGP bike. This morning we worked on the set up and weight balance to improve the grip and this afternoon I had a better feeling.”
Dovizioso is satisfied with his performance as he was able to keep up with the fast Casey Stoner. Let’s see if he manages to beat him on the race day.
