Repsol Honda rider Andrea Dovizioso feels confident than ever in 2011 MotoGP season – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda team rider Andrea Dovizioso is feeling more confident than ever in the ongoing 2011 MotoGP season.
The Italian rider is presently ranked at third position in the world championship standings.
Dovizioso has scored four podiums in the first half of the season and all of them had been along with his teammate Casey Stoner. At the moment, he is 50 points adrift of Stoner but still has a shot for title.
Dovizioso said, “I want to see the positive side and we are third in the championship, I had never been so strong in all races as I have been this year. So I am very happy with the job done by the team and with the feeling of the bike, but naturally, our
aim is to fight for the championship and right now, we are not competitive enough to set up a strategy to do it.”
He will spending the short summer break before the Brno event with his family. Meanwhile his other teammates, Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa will be looking to get fit for the next round.
Dovizioso said, “Anyway, we are well placed in the championship and there are still eight races ahead, so we have to believe. We will see which result we get in the end.”
His present strategy is to work hard and look to further improve his pace in the race. Considering his contenders, Stoner and Jorge Lorenzo, he is aware about their strengths in the season.
Both top rivals have been able to score multiple wins along several podiums. In the races, either one of the top two riders is leading the race so it gets difficult for Dovizioso to beat both in a single go. He also said that Dani Pedrosa is also a strong
rider when racing with full fitness as he has also marked himself the race leader at Estoril and Sachsenring.
The Italian also expressed his likeness for the Mugello event, where he scored a second place on the podium at his home event.
