Repsol Honda rider Andrea Dovizioso feels podium in sight with new clutch - MotoGP News
Andrea Dovizioso is pleased with the new bike and believes that the newly designed clutch will give him a big advantage over rival machines. The new clutch has already given good results at the post race test session after Estoril round.
The Italian hopes the change will give him his first podium place of the 2011 MotoGP season. Monster Energy Grand Prix de France will be on Sunday, May 15.
The Italian fighter from Repsol Honda has scored a couple of fourth places in the first three rounds of the 2011 campaign. By using the new clutch, he has found that hopping under the braking issue has significantly reduced in the RCV and the changes have
made settings more stabilised.
Dovizioso, while talking about the preparation said, “After the improvements made in the post GP test in Estoril, we arrive in Le Mans more competitive. We will use the new clutch we tested in Portugal and take advantage of the set-up solutions tested there.”
He has an impressive record at the French venue, with six podium finishes in nine race starts across all GP classes. The track is one of the most prestigious ones on the MotoGP calendar. In the 2010 season at Le Mans, he was able to hop in place of Dani
Pedrosa to finish third on the podium.
Dovizioso added, “I have always scored good results on this track, last year we had a very good race finishing on the podium. We head to Le Mans determined to repeat it. Our target is the podium and to achieve it we need to work well from the first day.”
Dovizioso will start this round being tied in the fifth place with Ducati rider, Nicky Hayden and is one point behind Hayden’s team-mate, Valentino Rossi, who is in fourth place on points table.
Other two team-fellows, Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner, each have bagged a victory in the running season. Pedrosa is on second place at points table, followed by Casey Stoner in third place.
