Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner amazed with his 2011 season performance – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner is ecstatic about his winning form in the 2011 MotoGP season.
The Aussie rider has collected six wins and four podiums out of 11 rounds in the season.
Stoner has claimed that he has not overshot his expectations he had during the preseason. During the ongoing season, he is the only rider to manage a hat-trick when he won the races from Le Mans to Silverstone. Now with two consecutive wins in Laguna Seca
and Brno, he again is in a superb form to score a triple win.
Stoner said, “I don't have expectations so there was nothing to surpass. It’s great when I get to win and when I've been third this year I have been pretty unhappy with them, which in some ways is a good thing. When you are unhappy with third you know you
are having a great season.  It has been fantastic so far, I suppose it could be better but also it could be a lot worse, but we have looked at the positives.”
His only ‘did not finish’ status came at Jerez, when he was swept by Valentino Rossi under wet conditions. That incident dropped him from top to third position in the world championship table. From that point Stoner charged up to take wins and now leads
the 2011 championship with 32 points from Jorge Lorenzo.
Since the preseason test sessions the factory Honda RC212V has been strong enough to withstand any rival. The revolutionary gear system has pronounced the RCV the dominator of the season.
Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa are the only riders who hold two victories each in the season so far. Pedrosa has been twice operated upon in the ongoing season and still lacks full fitness. Although Pedrosa has won two events, both of them were after his
comeback but a tough circuit still causes fatigue to him.
After a two-week break, MotoGP action will resume at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Stoner is in good form with RCV and Lorenzo has also vowed to race with an upgraded M1 and beat the Aussie in championship.
