Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner being compared to Mick Doohan – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner is seen having some shades of Mick Doohan, the former 500cc World Champion.
The 2011 season can be Casey Stoner’s best season as he will imitate the Australian 500cc World Champion Mick Doohan to score a season victory for the Honda factory team.
The MotoGP history shows that ‘The Thunder from Down Under’ was the fastest and victorious man in the 500cc class and similarly, Stoner is also a similar one in the present era of MotoGP.
After the recent event of Monster Energy Grand Prix de France at Le Mans, the Australian rider Casey Stoner is following the present championship leader Jorge Lorenzo. The fans also think that the Aussie rider is the man to secure the World Championship
title.
From the season start, Honda riders have dominated the practice time charts. HRC have built the fastest machine of the season which comprises the ability to lead the championship with some fast riders aboard. Stoner’s Repsol Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa and
San Carlo Honda rider Marco Simoncelli have occasionally taken the ride for the fastest seat but the Australian rider has won 7 out of 12 practice sessions up to the date.
His dominance proceeds with two wins out of four rounds in the 2011 MotoGP season. Stoner has been on pole for three times in four initial rounds of the season. According to the performance shown, he is having a great season. Stoner’s win at Qatar was not
expected due to his first race experience on the Honda RC212V. He had to propel a bike on the track which he had never before run in a race.
Stoner is always good at Qatar and the other MotoGP riders also do well at the venue, but at the season opener, they were unable to catch the Aussie.
It would be a marvel to see the Repsol Honda rider score a victory during the Jerez round and break the spell of a victory less period. It was the foreseen end to the race if Ducati Team rider Valentino Rossi had not swept Stoner with him.
The Estoril track is not very favourable for Casey Stoner, but the Spaniards, Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo are good at the venue. Stoner was not able to catch the leading Spanish duo. It was because the Australian had a trouble in his back which resurfaced
after the 2003 season. Still he is in best physical condition to lead the frontrunner squad along with Jorge Lorenzo. Let’s see how he fares in it.
