Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner cautious of Jorge Lorenzo at Brno event – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner is cautious about the M1 prime rider Jorge Lorenzo at the upcoming Cardion AB Grand Prix due to take place at Brno, Czech Republic on August 14, 2011.
The Aussie rider is leading the MotoGP championship so far, but he is clear about the strength of M1s at the free flowing circuits. Though he aims to score a win but he realises the potential of Lorenzo as he won the 2010 Brno event.
Stoner said, “Now I feel relaxed and ready for the second half of the season. I'm looking forward to going to Brno, it's a circuit I've always enjoyed and I believe with the results we've had in the past years we can expect to have a good race there. I've
seen that the Honda can be very competitive at all circuits this year so I'm sure we will also be strong in Brno.”
Brno is also one of the favourite tracks of Lorenzo and adding compatibility of M1, the Aussie is anticipating a tough challenge on the race day at Brno.
Stoner added, “The fact that it's very fast and flowing has helped the Yamahas in past seasons and I think Jorge will be strong there, so I will be watching for him.”
Stoner and his team aim to resolve the lagging issues faced to counter high speed corners. In last few races, the tracks with fast bends have helped Honda RCV to keep up the pace. The priority for Stoner is to win the race or score maximum points possible.
However, Stoner has won five races along four podium finishes holding a strong lead, whereas Jorge Lorenzo has scored two wins and five podiums till the short summer break. Both have been competitive in the first half but a significant success rate of Stoner
makes him a strong contender for the title lead.
Especially the win earned by Stoner at Laguna Seca has confirmed him as an outstanding performer who never lets it go.
