Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner feels confident for Sachsenring Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner has done well in the 2011 MotoGP season so far and is confident of success in the upcoming eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland set to take place this weekend, July 17, 2011.
The ninth MotoGP event at Sachsenring, Germany will start the second half of the season leading towards the US Grand Prix.
Stoner said, “I'm looking forward to going to Sachsenring, it's a circuit where we've enjoyed good results in the past few years. The track is very tight and technical so it demands a different style of riding and we also need to set the bike up in a different
way.”
He also explained the demanding nature of the Sachsenring circuit as it is tough on tyres. The circuit comprises of more left hand bends so the tyre erosion on left shoulder is more prominent than the other sections of the tyre.
Casey Stoner said that he and his team are putting in all the preparations for the event. He said, “It takes a lot of work to get a good set-up in order to have a good pace for the race distance. I really enjoy this race, the atmosphere is amazing and the
countryside is beautiful. We've always been pretty fast there and I'm sure with the Honda we can be competitive.”
The Aussie rider is now working hard to score the win and extend his 19-point lead form Jorge Lorenzo after the German Grand Prix.
With a last moment win at Mugello, Jorge Lorenzo is highly confident with his Yamaha M1’s pace and will definitely try to regain the world championship lead from Casey Stoner. It was the Spaniard’s second win in the 2011 season including his first at Jerez.
He displayed his competitiveness in dry conditions at Mugello.
Casey Stoner holds four wins under his belt and only Jorge Lorenzo is the other rider to win more than one race in the ongoing season. Stoner’s last victory was at a wet Silverstone circuit and following that, he finished second at Assen and third at Mugello.
