Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner hopeful of winning Motorland Aragon GP – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner is keen to recreate the magic to win the Motorland Aragon race as he did in 2010.
The third Spanish and the 14th MotoGP round will be held on September 18, 2011.
In the 2010 season, he was riding for the Ducati team but this time he will be doing it aboard a Honda RC212V.
A fatigued Stoner was relieved by the short break between the Misano and Aragon events. He was hampered by tiredness in the last laps of the San Marino GP which ruined his raceday. After resting through the gap, he feels refreshed.
Stoner said, “I've managed to rest since the hard race in Misano, where I was totally worn out. The hectic schedule we follow had drained me completely and I had no energy, nothing left to give, so I've enjoyed relaxing this past week and getting back to
some training.”
For Casey Stoner, the Spanish circuit Motorland Aragon is not perfect but still he is okay racing there. He thinks the track layout could have been a little better.
Considering the 2010 Aragon GP, he said that the victory was possible due to a big change in the race setup of the Ducati GP10. Coming in this season, the Aussie rider has had to search for the optimum setup with tune up for his gearbox.
Stoner added, “It will be interesting to go there on the Honda, Dani was competitive there last year and I think we can work well there also, and expect a good result. We'll get there and see what we can do.”
Although the Aussie rider leads the MotoGP championship for 2011 but after the recent Italian GP, his lead has dropped to 35 points from 44. Stoner’s rival Jorge Lorenzo of the Yamaha factory team won the Misano event and closed in on to him.
After the race, Stoner claimed that he was not feeling one hundred percent physically but after having a long rest, he is ready for the 2011 MotoGP title challenge once again.
