Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner hopes Dani Pedrosa gets well soon – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner feels for his teammate Dani Pedrosa, who got his right collarbone fractured during the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France.
Stoner hopes Dani gets his chances to fight for the 2011 World Championship title.
Casey Stoner was leading the race and could not see the accident. After the race, he saw his teammate’s accident on television.
The Aussie was touched by Pedrosa’s mishap and said, “It's definitely not the way I want to take points back. Jorge had a crash in the warm-up and injured his finger, and that's not going to be the best thing for him. Dani crashed in the race and broke his
collarbone.”
Dani Pedrosa, who is under observation at Clinica Teknon in Barcelona, is yet to get a decision by the doctors whether a surgery is necessary or his collarbone should be left to heal naturally. The Spaniard got his bone fractured during a position battle
with Marco Simoncelli of San Carlo Honda Gresini in the French Grand Prix.
Dani was leading the riders’ pack after the first bend of the first lap. Soon after a few laps, the super fast Repsol Honda teammate Casey Stoner took back the lead and remained in front until the end of the race. In the mid-race when Pedrosa was riding
close on the tail of Stoner, Marco Simoncelli was entangled in a fight with Pedrosa for the second position in the race.
Marco Simoncelli was able to overtake the Spaniard in the last bend. Leading the corner exit, Simoncelli was ahead but Pedrosa throttled up and gained the lead on the front straight. While entering the first corner, Simoncelli braked and made his turn a
bit delayed crossing over the line of Pedrosa. He was blocked by the Italian and faced a severe fall with his season’s first ‘did not finish’ status.
The Australian rider added, “We'll see what happens in the future, but Dani's so unlucky with these things. This shouldn't happen. Already he's had a problem with the shoulder this year, and now he has a problem with the other shoulder.”
The French round winner said it will be tough for the Spaniard to make his comeback, but looking at the larger-than-usual inter event break of the year, he might be able to return at Catalunya.
With his all gratitude, he paid regards to his Spanish teammate and wished that he can make an early return to the track.
