Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner leads the way in final free practice session of British GP

Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner pushed the performance bar for the final free practice session of the upcoming AirAsia British Grand Prix and was in the lead after the FP3 on Saturday.
Casey Stoner also led the first two free practice sessions and dominated the time sheets in dry and wet conditions. With his improved RCV race settings, Stoner has the lead over factory Yamahas and Ducati. The Aussie lapped a fastest time of 2:03.487 seconds and topped 310.3 km/h to occupy the top seat.
San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Marco Simoncelli was again riding on the tail of Repsol Honda’s Stoner and stood second fastest behind the Aussie rider. The Italian rider has been the second fastest in all three free practice sessions. In the final session, the Italian’s best effort was 2:03.720 seconds with a top speed of 307.5 km/h. Simoncelli’s best time in final FP was few milliseconds faster than Stoner’s FP1 best lap.
The third fastest rider of FP3 was Yamaha Factory Racing rider Ben Spies. The American was also third to finish at the Catalan GP last weekend, behind teammate Jorge Lorenzo. Yamaha Factory’s American rider gave his best shot of 2:03.942 seconds and called it a day at residing at third place in the final time sheet.
Yamaha Factory Racing teammate, Jorge Lorenzo was fighting hard to improve his lap time comparatively from Friday’s FP but still he came fourth in FP3 final time sheet. Though he shredded 0.657 seconds from his previous best time, but could not clinch the third fastest seat in time chart. The Spaniard has won the British Grand Prix in 2010 but he was not as fast as expected.
Following fifth spot was covered by homeboy Cal Crutchlow of Monster Yamaha Tech3 team. The Brit was successive to impress his countrymen in FP2 by being fourth fastest, but in FP3 he was not bad either. Brit’s Tech3 teammate, Colin Edwards was 10th in FP3 riding better and completing the session, whereas he was not able to complete FP1 and FP2 on Friday.
Repsol Honda rider Andrea Dovizioso was sixth fastest in FP3 and was followed by Nicky Hayden, Alvaro Bautista, Hiroshi Aoyama and Colin Edwards to complete the top ten slots.
