Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner says Valentino Rossi forced to fight for wins – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner feels that now Valentino Rossi has to fight for the wins or to beat competitors.
As previously, the Italian rider played tactfully through the race. In the final laps of the race, he used to overtake the top riders and won.
While speaking to bikesportnews.com, Stoner said, “There is no way Valentino fights and plays anymore, he hasn't been since we have been racing against him. He doesn't fight, he doesn't play, he goes out to try and win. He is good at holding on to people
who are a little bit faster and being able to tail them, then put last minute moves on but we've all learned how to do that so it's not something that he is any better than us at.”
The Aussie rider further added on that it is clear during his championship winning seasons that he used tact to beat riders in the last laps. Before his final act, Rossi chose to play with the flow in the race and forced others to hit the top position.
Now, Rossi does not apply any of his tactics in the race, and in fact, struggles in each corner and lap of the race.
Rossi has changed his style of racing because many other riders have learned his way of attack. The Italian rider efforts to pass ahead of his competitor and gain gap if possible. If it is not possible, he fights on. Stoner also praised his style of fight
in the race and called him to be the best in it.
Currently through the 2011 MotoGP season, Rossi is struggling hard to improve his results. He only holds a single podium finish at the Le Mans round. In France, Rossi finished third after two Honda RCV riders Dani Pedrosa and Marco Simoncelli were dropped
out of top slots.
During the running season there has not been a face-to-face fight between Stoner and Rossi. The Italian veteran is having a tough time with his GP11.1 development.
