Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa aims to finish on podium at Grand Prix of Japan – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa is hoping to secure a podium place finish in the upcoming Grand Prix of Japan taking place on October 2, 2011.
The Spanish rider has been successful at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit. This event will mark the first Asian and 15th MotoGP event of the ongoing season.
Pedrosa said, “Motegi is one of my favourite circuits not only for the layout but also for the atmosphere; I always ride well there and feel a lot of support from the Japanese fans and I think this year will be even more special for them.”
Pedrosa is currently placed on fourth position in the world championship just behind his Italian teammate, Andrea Dovizioso.
After having a couple of surgeries and suffering a fractured shoulder from the Le Mans round, Dani Pedrosa has earned two wins in the season. Despite missing three events out of the season, he has collected eight podium finishes. Since the start of the season,
Dani Pedrosa was facing an arm pumping issue which he had operated upon after the Jerez event.
Pedrosa added, “Obviously, last year I had a hard time there due to my injury, but I want to focus on my riding and enjoy the GP. I go there with the same approach as the last races: trying to do our best in all the sessions.”
Overall, the Spanish rider has collected five podium positions in his racing career but not a single in MotoGP class. It is a home event for Honda and the unfinished business of podium finishes is a big motivation for Pedrosa.
He likes to race at the venue and with superb team efforts, it will be a great race weekend at Japan. On the positive side, HRC will be adding two riders to the MotoGP grid as a support for the Japanese nation.
HRC test riders Shinichi Ito and Kousuke Akiyoshi will be racing at the Grand Prix of Japan. Ito will enjoy a wild card entry from HRC at the Motegi while Akiyoshi will be riding as LCR Honda teammate to Toni Elias.
