Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa comes strong at second position in Indy GP – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa scored second position on the podium after a tough race with teammate Casey Stoner and Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo at the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix.
Dani Pedrosa said, “We are very happy with second place today for several reasons. After yesterday's qualifying session, we had to work hard to reduce the one second gap we had from Casey, it wasn't normal to be so far away from him.”
The Spaniard was in instant lead from the start off and sustained his position for a while. Shortly his Australian teammate made a pass and snatched the win from rivals. Despite of starting from fourth position on the grid, Dani Pedrosa was strong from the
start and held of both factory Yamaha riders Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies from taking the lead over him.
Pedrosa added, “To finish second after the crash in Brno is a great feeling. I knew that my race pace wouldn't be as fast as Casey's, but the team did a very good job, helped me to feel more comfortable with the front and I was able to find a good rhythm,
just 3-4 tenths slower than Casey.”
Like fellow riders, Dani Pedrosa also claimed that the race was pretty hard and the tarmac at IMS was greasy which loosened the grip. The tyre wear out was also speedy especially affecting the left shoulder of the slicks.
After half the race was done, Pedrosa was far ahead from Yamaha riders and also away from the race leader Stoner. This left him alone in the race and let him concentrate to improve his lap times. His best lap time was recorded near the end of the race. However,
he was pleased with the performance of his factory Honda RC212V in such a tough condition.
He also said that after a frustrating end in Brno, Czech Republic it is an achievement to score second position on the podium. Now the Spanish rider is focused to race weekend at San Marino, Italy.
