Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa racing against time to be fit for Catalunya GP – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa is struggling to get fit for the home event of Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya on June 5, 2011.
The Spaniard expressed his recent health conditions via personal blog.
“The work with the physiotherapists has gone well and I’ve already started to move the affected area a little, after the initial few days in which I had to keep it immobilised. The truth is that at the moment I can’t give any concrete news,” said Pedrosa.
“I know everybody wants to know more about what I’ll do this weekend, whether I’ll be at the Catalunya GP or not, but right now I really can’t tell you anything more because nobody knows – neither myself nor the medical team – and you all know I’ve never liked
to speculate.”
He also appreciated the support of his fans in his blog. He was grateful to receive wishes and support for his injury and the operation.
Pedrosa sustained a fracture on his right collarbone during the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France. San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Marci Simoncelli was tailing Pedrosa for a second position. After a tough encounter, Simoncelli made an illegal attempt of
overtaking. The Italian’s act forced Pedrosa to fall and retire from the race with a fractured right collarbone.
The Spanish rider was immediately hospitalised and shortly underwent a surgery to fix his fracture by insertion of a titanium plate. Pedrosa chose to get surgery in order to get fit as soon as possible, but still he is doubtful for the upcoming race. He
has announced that after less than two weeks to the surgery, he can perform some movement in his arm.
Previously, Pedrosa underwent a surgery after the Spanish Grand Prix. It was necessary because the Spaniard felt pain, numbness and lack of strength during the season opener held at the Losail circuit, Qatar. He spent the first and second rounds in the same
condition.
Availing the long inter-event gap between the Spanish and Portuguese rounds, he had his first surgery of the season which was successful and blessed him with victory on his return to the Grand Prix of Portugal.
Let’s see whether he is able to participate in the upcoming Catalunya GP.
