Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa racing against time to return for Catalunya GP – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa is struggling to get fit for the upcoming MotoGP event, Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya.
Pedrosa had sustained a fracture on his right collarbone at the French GP for which he underwent a surgery last Wednesday.
Titanium plates were inserted in the surgery in order to fix his broken collarbone. The fracture was caused by the accident between Dani Pedrosa and San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Marco Simoncelli. The Italian tried to make a late pass over the Spaniard which
made him to fall.
The illegal act of Simoncelli was highly criticised by the race directors and the MotoGP fans. After the accident, the Italian rider was penalised with a ‘ride through’ penalty. However, Pedrosa expressed disappointment at the verdict of the Le Mans race
directors of just awarding Simoncelli with a ride through penalty.
Recently, Pedrosa explained his health on a blogging website. He said that the doctors have prescribed him full rest for at least a week after his recent surgery in Barcelona. He said his focus is to rehabilitate and get fit as much as possible to return
for the Catalunya GP scheduled for June 5, 2011.
On Wednesday, the Spanish rider will start the rehabilitation process with the help of physiotherapists and the surgery will be examined daily to keep a check over the improvement of collarbone.
Pedrosa said, “Having extra days at home allowed me to enjoy the Giro de Italia. I'm really into cycling and I really enjoyed the last few stages, which were really spectacular. However there was some bad news for cycling fans as Xavi Tondo passed away so
my thoughts go to his family and friends at this very difficult time.”
The Spaniard won the Portuguese round held after his surgery on his left collarbone as his comeback at Estoril proved to be victorious. Pedrosa will be hoping his second comeback in the 2011 season can help him win another race.
