Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa satisfied with comeback at Mugello – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa is satisfied with the comeback he made at Mugello for the Gran Premio d’Italia TIM.
Although not 100 percent fit, Pedrosa took a decent eighth place in the Italian Grand Prix and following into the official MotoGP test, he was 1.689 seconds slower than the top fast rider, his teammate Casey Stoner.
Repsol Honda rider, Dani Pedrosa said, “It was a short but very interesting and positive test for us. We basically wanted to use this test to improve our suspension. Unfortunately, due to the issues with my shoulder, we decided not to test the front fork
as I am not able to brake on the limit, so there is no point in trying it now.”
Dani Pedrosa made a positive run throughout the Italian GP race weekend. Following the race day, an official test was held for teams to test and improve their machines.
Pedrosa aimed to improve his setup by completing 26 laps in the session. The Spaniard took short runs with breaks to avoid the pain in his shoulder. He was already exhausted after a stressful race weekend and wanted not to complicate the situation.
Pedrosa further commented on testing session, “This is the modified Ohlins fork from the Estoril test, where I was also unable to test it due to injury. However, Casey and Andrea have been using it since then and it looks like it's a big step forward, so
as soon as my fitness improves.”
Regarding his shoulder pain and lack of strength, he skipped the chance to test the new 2011 Ohlins front fork. His teammates Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso are already using it. The new front forks have improved the front end feel.
He will attempt to test new front forks at the Sachsenring race weekend. He only tested the new swing arm but lacked the lap numbers to ascertain its benefits. On the other hand, Stoner and Dovizioso have liked its stability with the Ohlins’ rear suspension.
Pedrosa tested two different rear shock absorbers which provided positive feedback. With a lot of data from his Honda RC212V, he will move to German Grand Prix and use all the information collected to improve his race settings.
