Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa to miss Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa will not participate in his home event, Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya on June 5, 2011.
The Spaniard commented about his physical status and confirmed that he will not race in his home event.
He said, “After France, I had surgery to stabilise the fracture of my right collarbone and hoped to be ready for Barcelona. I pushed myself as best as I could but I feel that my collarbone is not yet ready. I think I must rest for a while and recover properly.”
Dani Pedrosa has been declared unfit for racing this weekend. His injury has not recovered as it was expected to be. The surgery was done in order to fix his right collarbone by inserting titanium plates which was fractured during a crash at the Le Mans
round held in the mid of May 2011.
Pedrosa and fellow Honda rider Marco Simoncelli were quarrelling for the second position in the race. During the tussle, Simoncelli was aggressive and made a hard move over the Spanish which caused him to run into the rear of the Italian’s Honda. Due to
the accident, Pedrosa fell and fractured his right collarbone.
On May 18, 2011, he underwent yet another surgery after he had a surgery a month earlier in April. The first surgery was conducted to relax his subclavian artery. The Spaniard was experiencing numbness and lack of strength during racing conditions. As per
the doctors’ advice, the surgery was crucial for him.
Pedrosa added, “Since early this year I've had many problems and operations and I really believe I must stop now and let this heal properly. I would love to be in Montmeló with all the fans that follow me but for me if I'm on track, I'm there to fight for
victory and offer them a good race.”
Keeping in view Pedrosa’s physical conditions, the rider and the team have decided to have him sit out the Catalunya GP. Pedrosa felt disappointed at the turn of events since he really wanted to steal the show in the ongoing 2011 MotoGP season.
Pedrosa meanwhile thanked his teammates, Casey Stoner, Andrea Dovizioso and the support his fans provided him.
