Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa to pay tribute to Marco Simoncelli in Valencia, MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa is geared up to race at Valencia for the final event of the 2011 MotoGP season.
The Spaniard and his teammates will race at Spain with Marco Simoncelli in thoughts.
After a recent tragedy of Simoncelli’s death, it is going to be hard for all MotoGP riders to return to the track. Many riders are preparing to tribute Super Sic by carrying his number 58 on fairing or leathers.
Pedrosa said, “Valencia will be a very special race for everybody. This weekend we will all have Marco in our thoughts and I hope the fans show their respect and appreciation to him, as the whole MotoGP family will do.”
Even though Pedrosa has had tough encounters with Simoncelli but he still deeply feels the loss of a great rival.
During the Le Mans event this season, Simoncelli took a bad manoeuvre over Pedrosa and made him crash. The Spaniard sustained a fractured collarbone, whereas Simoncelli was penalised and heavily criticised.
Both riders also had an exchange of harsh words during the press meetings. He was also criticised by paddock, fellow riders and media.
The Spanish rider has been successful at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in his racing career. From the three Repsol Honda riders, Pedrosa holds the best record at Valencia.
This round being his home event is important for him to finish as best as possible and take the third position in the world championship.
Pedrosa has collected a total of 5 wins at Valencia, from which two are in MotoGP, two in 250cc class and one in the 125cc category.
The Spanish HRC rider added, “Valencia is a track I like a lot and I'm looking forward to seeing all the fans there again. Last year I couldn't perform very well due to injury, but this time I hope to have a good race and finish the season in a good shape.”
The toughest battle at Valencia will be between Pedrosa and his teammate Andrea Dovizioso. The Italian will race to defend his third position in the points’ table, while Pedrosa is trying to improve his season end.
