Repsol Honda riders Dani Pedrosa, Casey Stoner enjoy double podium at Misano World Circuit – MotoGP
Repsol Honda team riders Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner came second and third respectively at the San Marino GP held at Misano.
It was marked as the 11th double podium finish for the Repsol Honda team in the 2011 MotoGP season.
The race began in hot and humid climate, where Jorge Lorenzo took the early lead on pole sitter Casey Stoner and sustained it until the end. Meanwhile, Dani Pedrosa ran third in the majority of the race.
Pedrosa said, “I'm a little disappointed with the race because the bike didn't feel as good as in practice. We wanted to make a change to the suspension to improve it but we had the opposite effect, sometimes it happens.”
Dani explained his tough situation in the race as firstly he was having his front tyre locked which hindered him from closing in on Lorenzo and Stoner. After some laps, his RCV started to lose rear end, sliding in the corners.
After the mid race, Pedrosa started to improve his pace and started getting closer to Stoner in each lap. The Spanish rider also said that Lorenzo performed superbly at the Misano track and was faster than anybody else.
While making ground on Stoner, eventually Pedrosa passed his Aussie teammate in the 22nd lap. Since the overtake he started to strengthen his position in the race and came second across the finish line.
He is content with consecutive second place finish since his crash at Brno. Now Pedrosa is fourth in the world championship and 35 points adrift from teammate Dovizioso.
The 2011 MotoGP World Championship leader Casey Stoner did not have a perfect day at Misano, but still he made a podium finish at third place from pole seat.
Casey Stoner said, “At the beginning of the race I was cautious as there were a few spots of rain, once this cleared up I was pretty comfortable behind Jorge, I didn't feel the need to push and then tiredness suddenly hit me.”
He claimed that he was fatigued out of nowhere which ruined his raceday. He added that the bike and tyres were working perfectly. It is said that after the neck injury from Assen crash and hard racing venues at Laguna Seca and Brno he feels an increased
pain. Let’s see how he fares at the upcoming event in Aragon, Spain.
