Repsol Honda riders Pedrosa, Stoner and Dovizioso impress at German GP FP2 – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda trio Dani Pedrosa, Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso were ranked 3, 4 and 5 respectively in the second free practice session held at Sachsenring for the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland.
Pedrosa said, “We had a quite positive start despite the accident I had in the morning practice session. I crashed in the fast downhill right hand corner, like everyone else because the tyre was very cold and I had no warning.”
Dani Pedrosa was also one of the five riders who faced a crash during the initial minutes of FP1 but luckily, he escaped uninjured. The Spaniard was not able to further avail the first practice session due to shortage of time.
Meanwhile in the second practice session he was better on his factory RC212V due to better track temperature and scored good lap times. The Spanish rider was faster than both of his teammates, Stoner and Dovizioso. He was also fast in the right hander which
caused troubles for a few riders earlier in the session.
Pedrosa expects that the temperatures should be higher during the upcoming days to get a better grip on the tarmac. He will also have the new swing arm last tested at the Mugello post-race test. He was still better with lap times as compared to the 2010
run even after unfavourable track conditions.
Stoner was the rider to initiate the FP1 and also the first to fall on turn 11 in the same session. Somehow, he lost the confidence and slowed down for a fourth place in FP2.
Stoner said, “I'm not too happy with how today has gone, we had a crash second lap out in FP1 and this affected us quite a lot, we lost a lot of time coming in and changing leathers and then I had to go out on a bike that I wasn't quite as comfortable with,
so apart from the last few laps, this morning's session was a bit of a waste for us.”
Their third teammate Andrea Dovizioso was fifth in final time sheets of the FP2 and felt pleased at Sachsenring. The Italian rider is confident after a second place at Mugello to score another podium at Germany.
