Repsol Honda trio dominates front row with Dani Pedrosa on pole seat at Sepang – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda trio Dani Pedrosa, Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso conquers the first row at the Sepang International Circuit.
The Spaniard took the pole seat for the Malaysian Grand Prix clinching his second pole position in 2011 season. The current world champion, Stoner was second and Dovizioso took third place on grid.
Pedrosa said, "It was a very difficult session, extremely hot, I couldn't breathe inside the helmet. We had a small crash in the front that I didn't expect, but was able to go back and go faster and take my second pole of the season.”
During the qualifying session the Italian Repsol rider was able to top the timesheets and held his position for a while.
For a short while Stoner was also able to take the top seat, but could not stand the heat. His RC212V was not able to swift through the immense temperatures and humidity.
However, finally Pedrosa was in a strong form and held the top seat till the end of the session.
Pedrosa further added, “I thought I would be able to improve a little more at the end and get closer to the time I did yesterday, but I found some traffic on my final run. Anyway, it's good to be on pole and I hope our race pace can be even better.”
The Spanish rider looked to sort settings for better traction at the rear end. He is cautious about the tyre choice for raceday. Pedrosa also knows that his rivals are close and strong to take the win.
He also praised the effort of his teammates to take the first row, but still he needs to focus on the race.
On the other side, the Aussie tried to take the pole seat, but the conditions and the setup was not in favour.
Earlier in the weekend, Pedrosa topped the timesheets on both practice days, whereas Stoner tried many different things on his RCV, but could not make a mark.
Aussie rider was struggling to get more traction out of the package but at turn the bike tended to slip a lot. During the practice session, Stoner also had a tail out in the turn and merely missed an accident.
