Repsol Honda’s Casey Stoner second despite improvement on second day of Valencia test – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner took second seat in the two-day post race Valencia test held at the Ricardo Tormo circuit.
The Aussie rider was able to improve his lap time by half a second as compared to first day. Stoner took his lap record to 1: 31.986 seconds, on his 15th lap.
After having a stunning victory in Valencia Grand Prix, Stoner had to struggle a little during the test session. The Aussie took last minute win against Ben Spies (Yamaha) while exiting from last corner.
Stoner said, “Everything has gone pretty well to be honest, on the first day we just needed to compare the bike to the one we tested earlier in the year. There have been a few small improvements especially in terms of the bike working with the new 2012 tyres.”
While commenting on his bike he added that the front tyre is has a lot of chatter at the moment. The aim is to reduce the chatter and improve the engine braking. The bike has helped a lot move in the expected direction but still there is some margin.
The 2011 MotoGP world champion added, “Something we've had since last season with the 800's is a lack of feeling and some chatter coming from the rear on the way into the corner which is something we still need to improve with the RC213V but we believe we
know the direction to go in to improve this situation.”
Still though, Stoner claimed to it to be a positive test session with the end of the 2011 MotoGP season.
Following the tough schedule, he will be returning to his home back in Australia. After a long winter break, the MotoGP riders will gather at the Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia for the first official outing of 2012.
Stoner became the world champion for 2011 by winning his home event at Phillip Island. He took 12 pole positions in the season. Only once in 2011, he started the race from second row.
The Australian rider well deserved the MotoGP title for 2011, with a stunning performance and unparallel courage. This season he has collected his second world title, last time in 2007 with Ducati Team.
