Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa leads the 1000cc post race test at Valencia – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa led the initial day of two-day post race 1000cc test held on Ricardo Tormo circuit at Valencia, Spain.
It will be the last official outing for MotoGP riders in 2011.
Pedrosa said, “It's been a good day for testing after so much rain! The track conditions were good which allowed us to work well on the bike and get the first feeling with the new RCV. We made a step forward from August, when I first tried the bike in Brno.”
The Repsol riders, Pedrosa and Casey Stoner have tested the RC213V during the 2011 season. Last time at Brno, the duo tested the 1000cc prototypes.
The Spanish rider dominated the complete test day ahead of the teammate, 2011 MotoGP world champion, Stoner.
The Aussie spent a little more time to fully understand the Honda RC213V. However, he still stood close to his Spanish teammate and posted 1 minute and 32.322 seconds as his best lap time.
Pedrosa’s best shot for the day was recorded at 1 minute and 32.186 seconds. His performance staggeringly improved aboard the Honda RC213V.
He was impressed with the performance of the bike after making little changes that delivered enhanced feeling.
The bike is feeling better and it gives better feedback from the road. With slight changes, the corner entry had improved overall, especially under braking. The overall the traction had also improved.
The Spanish Repsol Honda rider added, “I'm quite satisfied, not because of the lap times but more for the feeling I had. It was a bike test but also a rider test, I feel it's like schooling for me also and I enjoyed it. Not only the bike is new, also the
tyres are different for these bikes.”
While further commenting on the bike, he feels that the engine has a lot more power than its 800cc predecessor. The torque is also more than the RC212V engine.
The 800cc bike is being used for the last three seasons, so the riders face to adapt the bigger power plants in their riding styles.
The both teammates have enjoyed riding the 1000cc 2012 MotoGP prototype at Valencia. The next outing is planned in late January 2012.
